Well, over the past 22 days, we have been thinking long and hard about how to name our baby (at least some of us have
). Suggestions came from far and near (thank you all) and yet we found that there is something very serious and personal about naming a child. Here are a couple of the things we discussed, obviously, not in order of importance:
- We needed a name which is not so hard to pronounce
- We looked for a name which can be spelt with ease, given that the wee lad’s surname will always require spelling (and people will still get it wrong)
- One of us wanted a name which can be shortened, and therefore, used as a form of endearment
- One of us insisted on a Biblical name which will allow the baby to identify with that Bible character, when they grow up! Enough bad characters all around us!
- The meaning of the names should be positive – for when the baby will bother to check
- The initials of his names should not spell anything embarrassing
- All members of the family should be in some sort of agreement with the choice
- We wanted a ‘connection’ between Josh’s name and the baby’s – at least starting with letter ‘J’
Now, I hope you understand why it took us so long to decide!? In fact, we registered the baby one day after the 21 legally allowed days and we still asked the kind registrar to leave the room in order to allow us time for the final decision.
Tiresome, but worth it! Not that we managed to fulfill all criteria, or that we satisfied all the parties involved, but at least we made a decision!
I supppose, now you will understand why Melchisedech would never make it, nor would Judas, or Abelbethmaachah or Chepharhaammonai ….
And that is why the wee man shall be called Jason (Jays) David (Dave) Ghioalda.
It’s very nice name! 22 days without name but worth it!:) And what will be next, girl into your 3 vs 1 family?:))) God bless you! We are looking forward to see you:)
Thank goodness, you had us all concerned when you posted that mouthfull. Jason David is amazing and was well worth the wait!
lots of love J
Thank you, Jenny!
That was just me (Marcel) having a bit of fun under the frustration of having to find a suitable name. How is the family?
Very nice names! I really like it – especially his middle name.
I hope the little chap will one day appreciate all the thought and time that went into choosing his name. GOD bless you and your wonderful family! x
Hi guys!
Thank you very much for your kind words and patience with us, as we wrestled with the decision! M
